2013的赤口日(年初三)
It was 3rd day of Chinese New Year "Chi Kou Ri" in Chinese. A day which Chinese believes it is not good to visit or have guests at home, because the Anger God will make people argue with no reasons.
Anyway, it was an extremely good day for us. My sister and I visited my mother's hometown - Behrang together with my grandpa and his four children (and families) - Big uncle (the eldest son of my grandpa), big aunt (the eldest daugther), 4th aunt (daughter number four), my mother, cousins and cousin-in-law (15 people in total). It was the usual agenda - visit from house to house, eat, chit-chat and get AngPao. But, there were more this time. We had many wonderful moments together and I enjoyed the get-together. Many laughs and jokes along the journey, and space between two cars is not a barrier for us - we WHATAPPS and KAKAO each other lol instead of making calls.... We played Monopoly cards and those who lost the game would pay RM1 after games (and no one is actually paying that). After a while, we found that using melon seeds ("guazi 瓜子") as chips are more "practical" during Chinese New Year, as there were a big pot of melon seeds. The games did not take long. We ate the "chips" and continued taking photos and teasing the baby, until her mother "chased“ us away.
We continued our journey to Ipoh visiting our cousin-in-law's parents. The couple managed to arrange a dinner for all of us at a famous restaurant - it is more difficult to get a table and cost more than usual during Chinese New Year. We really appreciated their efforts. Though it took us some time to wait for the table to get ready, we love the food. The grown-ups took a table, and 6 of us - the cousins (we are never considered grown-ups as we have not got married yet) took another table. The "yet-to-grow-up" gang, 6 adults (age 20s-30s) shared a table of four. It was terribly congested!!!
After dinner, we departed. The cars were moving really slow on the highways, because of the rains and car accidents. Extreme attention was paid to bring everyone home safe. It was nearly midnight when we arrived Kuala Lumpur. Nevertheless, it was a cheerful journey and I always enjoy driving especially getting my family to places.
P/s: Some of us lost few ringgit to a cousin, but none of us remember to pay the debts after all.
